This cache is located a short distance off the Lake Renwick
Bikeway.
The cache is a .50 caliber ammo container with the usual trading
items. The bikeway is located in the Lake Renwick Bikeway Forest
Preserve. This park is located near but not in the Lake Renwick
Rookery Nature Preserve. Take some time to visit the rookery as it
is one of Illinois' natural wonders. The rookery is the only place
in Illinois where five species of birds, three of which are
state-threatened or endangered, nest together. Visitors can view
the birds May-August. Lake Renwick is the nursery for great blue
herons, great egrets, double-crested cormorants, cattle egrets, and
state endangered black-crowned night herons. Lake Renwick is used
by many raptors, ducks, and songbirds as a resting place during
their seasonal migration.
