The Cache is in a 50 cal ammo box., located less than 100 feet from a main trail. This park is open dawn to dusk . NO nite caching please. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. Some trails may be muddy, most of the year. The only parking is accessable from Seneca Street (Rt. 16). It’s easy to miss the opening. There is a fee collected 9AM to 5PM from Memorial day to Labor day. This cache is winter accessable and x-c skiing is permitted.
In July of 2000, State Office of Parks, acquired the former estate of Western New York's storied Knox family and a working farm including forests and fields, ponds and historic structures. Formerly known as the Ess-Kay Farm. Knox Farm State Park is NW of the village of East Aurora, NY.
The Audubon Society is partnering with the New York State Parks Department to manage the area for grassland bird species and to establish a regular schedule of interpretive nature education programs and hikes. This cache, placed with permission, is located in the Knox Farm State Park, located at 437 Buffalo Road (Rte. 16) in East Aurora.
The Knox Farm State Park was formerly known as Ess-Kay Farm, the estate of Seymour H. Knox. It was acquired by the State of New York in 2000, and preserved as a working farm. The park is open year round, 7 days a week, from dawn to dusk. It is comprised of 633 acres, including 400 acres of grasslands (pastures and hay fields), 100 acres of woodland, four ponds, and several wetland areas. Visitors to the park are encouraged to enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, biking, and running.
To begin your quest, park at N 42 46.628 W 78 38.516. Before hiking off to the cache coordinates, stop in at the Visitor Center to get a free park brochure. Included therein is a map detailing the elaborate trail system throughout the property.
