Wilderness Island (no boat required) Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This is a mini multi cache in a small undeveloped park. You have to find the first two stages to find the final cache. The second stage has a little twist but you should be able to find it with some searching, if you give up you can refer to the hint to find it. The final cache is a little more difficult to get to there’s no set trail to get to it and the area is covered in heavy thicket. It’s not too bad now but come spring and summer it will be tough going.

Let me first say that this cache is near a very popular trout fishing river and from about April – May there will be many fisherman nearby. There’s even a good possibility that I will be among them because this is my favorite trout stream.

While staging this cache I noticed several houses are within view of the first two stages but I don’t see any problems as long as you’re discreet. There is also one house in view of the final cache. If you don’t like being in any ones view while caching wait till the spring and this place will be so grown over that no one will see you. At all times you will be in the park and along a public access fishing river with the river as a boundary to any private property. When I first took the readings I had a strong signal that I think was pretty accurate but during placement it was overcast and I experienced some bounce. When you get close go slow and remember there is no need to cross the river.

There is no parking on the county road that runs past the park entrance. The best parking is at 40.59.950 – 074.17.459. Be careful this is a one way side street. It is also where most of the fisherman park.

There are times during the spring that this area is prone to flooding and I will keep a close watch on the river, if it starts rising I’ll remove and temporarily archive the cache until it’s safe again. This time of year and even when the river runs a little high there should be no need to get your feet wet to get to the cache I can see where you might think you have to in one spot nearing the cache but there is a way around it. This is my first cache so it’s either going to be a bust or a lot of fun, hopefully the latter. Anyway good luck and enjoy.
