Poison Ivy Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

sjpowell66: I went out and looked for this one today. When I hid this one there wasn't any poison ivy but that has changed dramatically. Thanks Briar Boy for also looking for this one. You are right it is quite a bit more over grown. However there was a nicely mowed path leading all the last pond that the cache was next to.

This one is gone.

Geocache Description:

Located in Samuel Farm Park although there are trails this cache is in one of the more remote areas of the park. That means some thorns and bushwacking may be involved. Park has limited hours of operation. See notes below.

I didn't see any poison ivy when I went to hide this cache. I didn't get any poison ivy when I hid this cache either.

The reason I named this cache Poison Ivy is because before I started geocaching in September, 2003 I didn't even know for sure what poison ivy looked like. Since that time I have gotten three or four mild cases on my shins and two major cases on my face.

The two on my face made me so miserable I had to go to the doctor and get a shot and some pills to clear them up. On my second visit in less than a month the doctor asked me "Now tell me again why were you out in the woods?" I don't think I made a new geocacher out of him. Needless to say I now know exactly what to look for and how to avoid it.

So I decided that I would make a cache called Poison Ivy and see how many people would want to go find Poison Ivy. The cache container is an ammo box and has some anti-itch creams and other neat stuff in it.

There is a FTF trinket that says "I was FTF Poison Ivy" on it(who but a geocacher would want such a thing?).

The FTF trinket was claimed by Sandbassking and Sandbassqueen.

Park hours are Tuesday - Sunday 9 to 5.
