Geocache Description:

THE COORDINATES ARE NOT THE CACHE LOCATION.

Read Below.

A dirt road to the north, off Hwy 50 before you see Sand Mountain. Follow it though the dirt work, road is sandy, loose gravle and lava rocks upto the size of volley balls. High clearance vehicle is a must.

This offset cache is in Honor of Black Knight 732, an H-3 Helicopter that crashed here on 22 Mar 1978, at 1245. It was dash two and was returning from a successful Combat Rescue Training Mission in Dixie Valley.

LT Reynolds, LT Labarre, AW2 Hart, AWAN Jacobs, and AOAN Staggers all lost there lives. Airman Staggers was not normally part of the crew, but because he had been named the "Plane Captain of the Month" he was allowed to fly on this flight to see what all his hard work was for.

On a personal note, Monty Wolf and I had heard of this memorial in the early Nineties and thought we would go to find it. The spooky thing was, we arrived there at 1245 on the 22nd of March.

The coordinates are for the memorial, drop a way point of your own and proceed 004 degrees magnetic for 401 feet.

Look for a .50 cal ammo can.

Please bring some appropriate flowers for the memorial, my multi-colored ones are all that are there.
