Geocache Description:

Welcome to 5 Star New York. Fourteen virtual puzzle stages that will lead the adventurer to many of New York City's famous landmarks. For the most part the terrain is easy. All clue sites are easily within walking, driving or public transportation. Most are handicap accessible. This is New York so please be careful. Attempting certain stages at night is not advisable, however the cache is available any month of the year.

This cache was placed by Avroair on 2/14/04 (with help from Dan S. Mike B and BrazenRaisen). Five Star New York was conceived and implemented as a novel approach to geocaching and a fun trip to places in Manhattan. To our knowledge there is no other cache like this.

Fourteen clues and coordinates + the final cache. The clues are non-linear (you don't need one to solve the next), but I have laid them out numerically for the best way to cover them - just under 10 miles. I would suggest plotting each coordinate online before asaulting the waypoints.

“The science of deduction and analysis is one which can only be acquired by long and patient study. Before turning to those moral and mental aspects of the matter which present the greatest difficulties, let the inquirer begin by mastering more of the elementary aspects.”
The final cache is a small lock-n-lock clear plastic container (only one place it could be!), hidden at the location of the puzzle's solution. Knowledge in various disciplines is helpful.
