Geocache Description:

You are looking for small container. No room for a pen, so BYOP. Room for small trading items.

This is in the old Estil Cemetery in Gate City. The town was formerly known as Estillville. This cemetery was known as the "Political" graveyard. Many of Scott County's prior residents are resting here. It is a public cemetery that is maintained by the neighbors that live around it.

Please show respect for the gravesites. No graves need to be disturbed to find the cache.

Many interesting and unique stones are here. One of note is the statue of the young woman with the inscription at the base of "Johnson"

County seat: Estillville, Population, 155

This county was formed in 1814 from Washington, Russell and Lee, and is the middle one of the three Tennessee border counties. Wise county is on the north, Washington and Russell on the east and Lee on the west. The surface is for the most part mountainous, the Clinch, Moccasin and Copper mountain ridges stretch through the middle part, Powell's and Stone mountains are on its western confines, and Walker's range crossed its southeastern point."
