Geocache Description:

A webcam at the University of Canterbury.

To log this cache, download a picture of yourself on the webcam from www.elec.canterbury.ac.nz/publicarea/gary/, with your GPS obviously in the picture, and post it here. Logs that do not comply with these requirements will be deleted.

The camera operates 6am-10pm. Pictures are taken every 15 minutes. Pictures are only stored for 1 day. If it is dark you will need to bring your own light, even if the light is on in the building.
The webcam is in my office, so if you visit when I am here, say hello! I can make manual exposures, which will make sure you are in the picture.
The webcam software occasionally locks up, resulting in repeat images, or no recent updates. Make sure to check beforehand if getting a log is critical, as this is not justification for non-compliant logs.

Public access to this location is generally not a problem. The campus Security people are used to students coming and going at all times. They are also aware that this camera is is in place. If you are approached by a staff member let them know what you are doing. If in the unlikely situation that they are unconvinced, get them to contact me (Gary Turner) on xtn 94412 during work time, or 021-298-7053 a/h.
