An (almost) park and grab Travel Bug Hotel. The rules to this cache are simple, if you want to take a bug, you must drop one off also. If you don't, I'll be deleting your log. Not trying to be harsh, but want to keep bugs in here for people to trade. (Thanks) However, feel free to log the cache once found even if you don't have a bug to trade. Permission was granted to cache on this land. Please pick up any trash you find to help keep our good standing with the parks division.
You can park at N 42* 59.394 and W 82* 39.081 and please do so. If you try to drive all the way to the cache, you'll tear up the soft section and the parks will ask us to remove the cache. And, when parking, don't block the path completely just in case the county wants to get one of its farm tractors in. Don't let the area fool you, this looks like private property, but it's not. If you look at some old maps, you'll notice a hospitial symbol at this location. Many years ago, this was a location for a state mental institution. Then, it got changed to the county poor farm where destitute and homeless people could come and live and work. About 20 years ago, that portion was torn down and it's now part of the St. Clair County parks system (Goodells County Park). There is a fairly nice trail to walk on (a tractor path which is often soft and wet) and the total walk is about 800 feet one way. There is a sad reminder of the areas past at N 42* 59.281 W 82* 39.180.
