Boneychest & Catsuey: I lose all my ammo cans that way!

I don't know how many times we've replaced this one but, after 11 years of bringing people here, it's time to move on. Thanks to everyone who has visited, logged, not logged, swapped, replaced and enjoyed this, our first listed cache.

Geocache Description:

A short walk through Hinchingbrooke Country park.

Hinchingbrooke house was a nunnery until the dissolution in 1536. The building then lay dormant until Richard Cromwell was granted the Hinchingbrooke estate along with other monastic spoils of the dissolution, including nearby Ramsey Abbey.

Sir Oliver Cromwell (Uncle of Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector) inherited the property in 1604 and frequently entertained King Charles 1st here. The Lord Protector never owned Hinchingbrooke but it is thought that he spent some of his childhood days here. Hinchingbrooke was eventually sold by Sir Oliver to Sir Sydney Montague, a royalist on 20th June 1627.

The house is open to the public on summer Sundays.

The cache is an ammo can placed in a fairly public place. Enjoy the view towards Samuel Pepys house on the edge of Brampton village.
