Geocache Description:

First in a series of caches regarding local geocaching "history".

This is not the typical infosponge placement, but I have been thinking a lot of about older caches lately, and wanted to put a cache here. This cache is about 80 feet away from the third cache I'd ever found.

The original cache claimed to be the first cache in the Tampa area. You can read about it here: Tampa One.

I have fond memories of walking out here with a 2 y/o InfoJr and how great it was to find this little tupperware box of trinkets. The really funny memories come from BEFORE I found it, and I spent a lot of time wandering around a nearby development trying to figure out how to get close to the cache...I wasn't very good at navigating with the GPS in the car at the time. It didn't help that the GPS kept losing lock when it was inside my Jeep either. :) I think I still chuckle at how far off course I was whenever I drive by here, and that's frequently.

The original cache was actually a bit more difficult, but at the time the access to the west side of the pond was not fenced off...the movie theater was not blocked off yet.

The cache is on the small side...not a micro, but not a full size box either. Inside is a log sheet, and some smaller trinkets and a few WG$'s.

No bushwacking is needed...you'll be on a relatively dry trail between a retention pond and a cypress swamp, and the cache is at the edge of the trail.

Please be sure and re-hide it well, so it's not found accidentally.
