Sagefox: Sad to say that after a ten year run it is time to put the little snagster to bed. I got an email from the last finder that the lid and log were missing so Roadcow went over to check it out and found a squirrel-chewed log but no lid.

We kept this cache active when we moved to Olympia because it was our favorite placement and with Roadcow's help it has been kept in excellent condition these past seven years. But now it is time to give up the ground and hopefully there will be a new cache, or two, up on this side of the two creeks. (There is room for two caches, hint, hint, because we had a second one here also.)

Geocache Description:

You will need to follow the instructions below in order to get to this cache. Your gps will lead you into this park but that's about it.

At no time will you need to leave the existing trails - No bushwacking necessary.

This is Fort Bragg’s "Wilderness". Otis Johnson Park. A nice woodland adventure is waiting here for you. The best parking is at the end of Laurel Street although there is a two-car paved parking area on Cedar Street too.

Park hours are 7am to 5pm through April 30th, then 7am to 8pm until October 31st.

This is not a quick throw-down micro. The location and the container disguise were carefully thought out.

We don't want anyone to miss this cache because they can't find the right snag. YOUR GPS MIGHT NOT LEAD YOU TO THIS CACHE! So don't rely on it exclusively.

Follow the path from either parking lot down the hill until you get all the way down to the creek. Cross the creek and look for the wood steps up the hill to your right (not the earlier wood steps that lead to the Cedar Street entrance). Go up to the top of the steps and take the north bank trail, THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE CREEK, until you come within 15' of the the fenced boundary of the park. From here you are on your own but I can say that no climbing or crawling is required.

These instructions work. A careful search will be more productive than one that is hasty and frantic. As Vallen2 said: "This was one of the most obvious and yet hard to find caches that we have ever attempted"
