Geocache Description:


Sam Jones (Abiaka) Sam Jones was a powerful spiritual leader of a Miccosukee band of Seminoles. At one time he lived on the Pine Island complex, an important Seminole ceremonial grounds until the end of the 19th Century. Sam Jones was a major force of resistance against the U.S. during the Seminole Wars of the 1800's. He helped warriors prepare for battle with his medicine and prayers. 4,000 Seminoles were captured and removed to Oklahoma, but Sam Jones and his followers never surrendered. Because of his inflexible courage and determination, there are Seminoles living in Florida today.

This is a multi cache, the coords will take you to a location where you will meet "Sam Jones". Take a few minutes to learn about this brave man. To find the second part of the cache you will need to add the following:N 26 04 XXX take the year the monument was dedicated and subtract 1457 from it to give you the last 3 coords W 080 16 YYY take the year that General George was quoted and subtract 1280 from it to give you the last 3 coord.
