Geocache Description:

In 1941 Hack Green, a site previously used as a bombing decoy site for the main railway centre at Crewe was chosen to become RAF Hack Green one of 21 fixed radar stations in the country. The station was closed in 1966.

In 1976 the abandoned station was sold to the Home Office to be converted into a protected seat of government for Home Defence Region 10:2. The HQ became operational in 1984 and remained secret until 1993 when it was de-classified. In May 2002 Hack Green became the largest cold war facility open to the public. (More details at http://www.hackgreen.co.uk )

The cache is an Ammo box located approximately 1km from the bunker. This is a very pleasant rural location with some great walks by the canal.
