Geocache Description:

*The following is the original Geomonkeys description. I have since adopted this cache and have added a further update on how to get here (a few things have changed in 10 years). A sometimes tranquil location, you can hear the ghostly echoes of the trains from here. these dams are now used for other recreation.

The railway dams were built in 1887 to supply water for steam trains. These historic and scenic dams may soon be inaccessible to the bushwalking public if Gosford City Council does not take action. The land surrounding this area is privately owned and a residental development is planned at Lot 1... Oh i better not give too much away,

Access to this location is not through private land, even though the website quoted above hints that it is.( you will have to find the website yourselves, its not that hard)

if you park here...

you wont have any problems.

When I was there, Midday today(Thursday), the location was quiet and peacefull, not a sole around ( apart form one monkey). I think I saw a platypus, or was it the Yoweie?. The two dams are very impressive ,and I reccomend that when you go to this cache you take the time to explore the Upper dam aswell. its only a bout 100m upstram.

You have 3 access options to this cache.

1. Take a civilised walk around the lake to the cache location.( reccomended)

2. Risk life and limb slipping in algae, and falling down the 20M waterfall, while attempting to cross the dam wall.( not reccomended)

3. Swimming across. so bring your swimmers, or not, i did say its very isolated didnt I? ( reccomended, extra points for posting Skinny dipping Photo-finds! he he)

Oh or option 5... taking your bike-boat out and giving it a burl...
(visit link)

its a perfect location for this device.

The water was murkey when I was there, probably due to recent rains, but there is evidence of many happy hours spent swimming here buy others. Rope swings, camp fires. (cache in trash out)

Aparently there are plenty of Australian Bass in the dams aswell for those who like to drop a line.
The area is farily rocky. and there are some steep slippery rock faces that will easily roll you into the dams, so keep an eye on geo kiddies. Otherwise the place is very freindly. Please stay on the trails , there is no need to bush bask to the cache, infact it would be better if you didnt, as the chances that this one will be discovered by Muggles is high enough allready.
Please hide the cache as close as possible to the way you found it,and ensure it is fairly invisible before you leave.

thanks you that is all.

*Continuation of update 2015* I have added some new trailhead coordinates. Also, the original notebook had been dried out and is in the cache to read. Another log book id for all new finders. The cache has been moved about 20m to a more watertight location. Same clue still applies.
