... PROpane to be precise. Because It's There, we suggest you not smoke while approaching this cache. Sailor and Mr. Codger walk by this place almost daily and do not want to go up in smoke, or even be singed. Nor do we want you to be part of the ‘film at 11'. Unintended things have happened at some of the BITs and we don't want you adding to the lore.
In Mr. Codger's neighborhood, this gas station usually has the least expensive (I WAS going to say ‘cheapest', but we all know there ain't no cheap gas anywhere) gas prices. Prices are, in fact, a ''pane.'' The propane was very convenient when Mr. Codger (under a spell of unbridled civic and charitable responsibility) was a Scoutmaster. Many a canister was refilled here prior to campouts. If you've ever watched a refilling, you'll see the plume as the container nears the filled point. That ain't water vapor venting. And the odor (from onions, I understand) lingers.
This is a milestone of sorts for the BIT series. It's where you think it is. Watch out for muggles as you go to retrieve it. They might be behind you adding air to their tires. Or, they might drive up just as you think you're clear. After you're finished, you can go get a Lotto ticket if you feel lucky.
