Alas, another cache has finally bitten the dust.

After getting a bit of free time to go do a cache check, all that was left was a scuffed up hiding place and a discarded watch (formerly a piece of cache loot).

With the development going on in the area, and the new local kids turning the place into an off road bike track, I'm going to pull the pin on this site altogether.

An interesting experiment, with 23 finds over two years, eighteen of them in the last ten months. Told me a lot about our caching fraternity in terms of persistance, challenges and such.

Geocache Description:

The Swarm has been Transformed, for a third and final time.

This cache began life as a simple walk in some suburban bushland, just difficult enough to confound some, but generally an easy find.

After a little time had passed, the surrounding vegetation starting showing some definate signs of wear and tear. So it was moved to a nearby, but far more formidable location. The creek, the vines, the mud and the spikey things were intended to make this a difficult, and dare I say it, an extreme sort of challenge.

Apparently it was. Eleven months, two attempts, no successes.

A decision to check it on a sunny Sunday arvo turned into a two hour ordeal for yours truly, and a decision that this was bloody ridiculous. Knowing that I was going to spend that night picking thorny bits of vegetation from my flesh, I made certain no others would suffer this fate.

The cache is relocated, and has cut about fifty meters of prickly hell from the journey. While there is still no path to the cache, it is now a kid friendly spot, rather than one that would eat them alive. The terrain should prevent the 'caching trail' effect that caused the first move.

While in the same general area, this is still a new find for anyone trying again, as well as first timers.

(PS: although not evident when re-hidden, the blood-sucking members of the Swarm will never be far away, so bring the repellant, just in case)
