Vista Point Traditional Cache

This cache is a short hike from the main Blue Mountain trailhead.
The straight line distance from the parking lot to Vista Point is about 1.2 miles, and the route I chose is probably the most direct one, though certainly not the only route available. I used trail 3.04 from the parking lot to the base of the hill, then trail 3.06 which climbs up to Vista Point. It took me 45 minutes from the trailhead to the point at my slow but dogged geo-plod, but the lean and long of leg will be able to do it in considerably less time.
This was a gorgeous walk on the dawn of an incipient spring day. Those who got the chance to do the Vista/Hayes multi before it went up in flames will recognize this spot as one of the way-points from that cache. I enjoyed it so much last spring when the hillside was covered with flowers that I wanted to give folks another excuse to visit the area. When this cache was placed, the wildflowers weren't out quite yet, but I saw a plethora of pretty little birds on the way in. There were robins, nuthatches, towhees, downy woodpeckers, gray jays and the ever exquisite mountain bluebirds all out in pursuit of breakfast. I saw a lot of elk scat up on the point so you may luck out and see one of those. Nice views of the valley and surrounding peaks are also available at the cache site.
The coordinates are an average of 13 readings taken with 15-17 foot accuracy and 7-10 satellites locked. Original trade goods include a magnetic key box, a packet of tissues, 4 mighty beanz, a blue craft clamp, a 2004/2005 pocket calendar, a pair of handwarmers, and a few other things I'm not remembering.
