Up On The Roof Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

mkhumpert: We visited the site of Up On The Roof today, something definately happened here. Dug a little, found evidence of the roof but nothing that resembled an ammo can. Hopefully it will be found someday, we are very sorry for the vintage airplane travel bug - maybe he will surface somewhere in the wild blue yonder. We are convinced this roof belonged to a 1957 Chevy Belaire and was deposited in this old creekbed years ago. The old tires that are half buried in the area are "the headstones that rolled" once upon a time. If they could only speak. There were also parts from other cars and trucks ~ a graveyard of old rusted automobiles. It was fun while it lasted, 6 years, 6 months, 258 visits. Happy Cachin' Mike and Kathy

Geocache Description:

Some things are not completely buried and some headstones can roll.

If you park at N39 44.100 W104 45.772 it is much closer but no paved trail, all sandy natural trails and you will see the headstones that can roll. Please note, if you park here the gates close at 3pm unless an activity is going on. It is okay to park outside of the gate along the road. A little further walk - more excercise! If you go this way, find the trail past the ugly concrete "thing" and the pile of used headstones that can roll. If you park at N39 43.336 W104 45.066 the walk is a little over one mile each direction and paved except for the first 1000 feet and the last 450 feet. Watch for cactus and sticker burrs, lots of "critters" out here, be careful with your little four-legged guys. Lots of broken trees. In spring thru fall you might want to bring along that bug spray!
