Cache adopted from SPOO,8-14-10,Trying to keep the fun alive...The Famous Bull Ring watering hole.
About 2.6 miles north of the Four Corners Store in East Hiram on Route 117 headed towards Denmark. On the right. An easy 100 feet off the main road.
I started this with:
12 Yen in Japanese coins, a Geocahe Key holder with compass, a small plane, a scented candle, a Geocache pin, a polished quartz stone and a small survival Bic.
May 16, 2004 Edit:
By popular demand, the brief history for the name:
There were two ways to get from Hiram to Denmark. One was over two mountains and the other was over two hills with a swamp in between. At some point in antiquity (I am sorry folks, I do not remember the date) the citizens of Hiram and Denmark decided to put this road in, now known as Rt. 117.....It was late summer when it was decided to do it. They BULLED the road in during that fall in order for use during the winter. You have to look at a good Topo map or an aerial view to realize that the road practically makes a RING around Tear Cap Hill.
Hence the name BULL RING. The watering ring was added at a later date simply because it was a convenient natural spring along the road.
