FILM CAN??? Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

2Wheel'in: There's no drama here...please don't read more into the previous 3 logs than there is. Simple fact is, there was a misunderstanding, it was rectified, and the Volunteer Reviewer graciously un-archived the cache. The 3 stages of FILM CAN??? have already been removed - I have more time than most, and tend to do things as they need doing! I've decided to let this cache go and remain archived. It had a good run, but only had those 89 finds in 8+ years - things have changed in the geocaching world and it doesn't get hunted very often. Opening up the area may result in new caches along a great portion of Glade Run.

Geocache Description:

This multi-cache (3 legs) is located in the Reston area of Fairfax County, Virginia. Find the first cache at the coordinates listed, and receive the coordinates for the second cache, and half of the coordinates for the third cache. Find the second cache and receive the other half of the coordinates for the third cache.

We felt it was time that we repaid some of the generous geocachers in our area that have hidden so many caches and provided us with many, many hours of enjoyment. The cache difficulty rating was derived from the multi-cache aspect and distance, and the terrain level rating pertains primarily to the third cache location. Night-time searches will draw unwanted attention so should not be undertaken, nor is this cache recommended for young children (Unless you use a stroller, cycle, or drive between stages).

The hike to the first two caches will keep you on some of the paved Reston system of pathways that interconnect housing areas and commercial complexes along Glade Run. Trust your GPSr and stay on the paved trails "true" bushwhacking is not required for any of the locations...if you're not on a clear trail/path - look for another way. The first and second caches shouldn’t be too difficult to find…the third is a different matter entirely.

The entire walk is approximately 2.5 miles (one way), and we encourage you to walk the entire length and enjoy the sights and sounds of Mother Nature, it’s also an excellent bicycle ride; however, you can park your vehicle and walk to the first two caches, then…once you have the final coordinates, drive and park roadside right at the trailhead for that final search. (That Trailhead is for Twin Branches Trail, and is located at the intersection of Twin Branches Road & Glade Drive).

The first two cache containers are small and “film can like”…they were planted as “seeds” to see how big a film can would grow. The third cache is a “full grown” film can. (If you’re curious about the origin of the 3rd “film can” send me an e-mail and I’ll enlighten you). If you notice problems with any of the cache locations, please post a note - I can visit any of them within 30 minutes on most days. The 1st and 2nd caches have only coordinate sheets with the coordinates for the next (or final) cache location. Please return the coordinate sheets to their respective containers. Final Cache has: Log & Pen/Pencil (NOTE: The log is contained in a small black cylinder, please sign the log and leave cylinder in the cache container).

Please do NOT hunt this cache at night!
