Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache..please bring pen to sign log.

The above coordinates will take you to the square in downtown Wadesboro, N.C.,the county seat of Anson County. Anson County, once the largest in the state with a border on the Mississippi River, was carved from Bladen Coounty in 1750. It was named for Lord George Anson, a British admiral. Lots of things have changed but memories and history are still with us. Have a seat on the bench on the Northwest corner of the square and look around. Look to your left about 60 degrees and see the Anson County Courthouse build in 1912. This courthouse is the courthouse filmed in the movie "COLOR PURPLE". Due East in the first block are museums with items of bygone times. One is the TOM LITTLE MUSEUM. Across the street is the Ashe-Covington Medical Museum. In the next block in the Boggan Hammond house. This 1800's era house was built by Mr. Boggan,one of the founders of the town for his daughter Nellie who married William Hammond. It is furnished in period furnishings which include a rope bed with a trundle. These sites are open to the public Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and by appoint-
ment call 704.694.4950 or 704.695.2033.
Now to the hunt!! This is a micro cache and is painted black
and is located in a well travelled place. Be discreet and
bring a pen to sign the log. The actual cache coordinates are--N 34.57.988, W 080.04.593.
