Geocache Description:

When: Saturday, April 24, 2004 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Where: North Mountain Park, Casa Grande Ramada C

Interstate 10; Exit 190 (McCartney Road) east to Cox Road. Turn north on Cox Road, continuing on dirt road to the North Mountain Park entrance.

North Mountain Park consists of 320 beautiful acres nestled in the southern foothills of the Sacaton Mountains. The landscape has been left as natural desert; therefore, event attendees will need to take the normal precautions necessary for the terrain. Be sure to wear proper footwear, hats, sunscreen, etc. and bring plenty of drinking water.

Stock up your picnic baskets and your coolers, and plan on a fun-filled day of event activities and great camaraderie! There are plenty of picnic tables available under the large shady Ramada, but you still may wish to bring your lawn chair(s). There is a large charcoal BBQ grill ready to accommodate your flavor of meat! Restrooms are available near the Ramada. A water station with hand soap will be made available for you to use throughout the event.

There is a marked one-mile hiking trail within the park; however, there are vast opportunities for hiking and rock climbing in the area. In fact, there are currently three regular caches placed within the boundaries of the park: Apex, North Mountain Park, and Travelers.

Not Your Ordinary Event Cache activities will include the following:

* Micro Cache hidden by your co-hosts, We C*EM.

* Puzzle Cache hidden by your co-hosts, Team Dodge Podge.

* Place your team flag at “Ground Zero.” The coordinates and flags will be provided at the event.

* Travel Bug Exchange: Bring travel bugs to exchange at the event. The Geocacher who brings the travel bug with the most miles logged will receive a Special Bonus Prize! (Note: In order for a travel bug to be eligible for the contest, you must print out the travel bug’s page (at least the first page) showing the official mileage logged and bring it with you to the event.)

* A colorful Piñata for our young Geocachers. The blindfolding and swinging festivities will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m.

* Complete a Survey of Your Favorite Caches. The results will be posted on this event cache page following the event. Feel free to use it as a reference so you can share in the same fun and excitement your fellow Geocachers have experienced!

* Sign the Event Cache Quilt Square to be featured in the next Arizona Geocachers Quilt!

* Door Prizes: We will have many door prizes to give away at the event. The drawings will begin at approximately 11:00 a.m. You must be present to win. (We will be using the same tickets for the drawing for the Event Cache containers, so don’t lose these tickets!)

* Event Cache Give-Aways: Both a Micro and Regular Cache will be given away to two lucky Geocachers. We ask that you please hide these caches in honor of the day’s event. Be sure to bring a trade item to place in the Regular Cache container.

* Make sure you sign the Event Logbook, as a “no sign” means “no find.”
