Geocache Description:

Abbotsbury Castle, Dorset

Abbotsbury Castle is an Iron Age hillfort 2 km from the village with its famous swannery. It is triangular with double ramparts and was once inhabited by the Celtic tribe known as the Durotriges. Along with Eggardon Hill and Maiden Castle, it would have been part of the defence system of the region, giving early warning of seaborne invasion. There are 360 degrees of wonderful scenery to be enjoyed, including the spectacular view SE along the Chesil Beach to Portland.

The cache is a 350ml plastic container so small items only, please.

There is a very small car park off the B3157 on the Ashley Chase road at N50 40.540, W002 37.650. This cache lies en route to ‘Chapel Trouble’ by Team Tate.
