A cache above Interstate 80 on White Mountain
This little cache is about a mile away from the West Bound Exit 99 off Interstate 80.
It was placed in honor of TH&G's 1000th cache found November 2003 and for the 1000th travel bug found April 2004. We became the first members of the 1000 cache/1000 travel bug club. April 2004 is also the 2nd anniversary of our "active" caching with a GPS.
This cache is a plastic container hidden not on top nor on the bottom of White Moutain. It is sitting around the 7000' elevation level.
We approached the cache hiking from the bottom. Near Exit 99 are dirts roads and dirt bike trails that will head you near the cache. Also I supposed one could drive and hike off the Wild Horse Loop from above to reach the cache, and there seems to be jeep trails coming from the west on the bottom that can get you closer.
The views from the cache area are of White Mtn., I-80, Wilkins Peak, Aspen Mtn., and Rock Springs.
