The Great Horned Owl, our largest and most vicious owl, lives along the shoreline of Greensboro's Lake Brandt. It seems this big fellow now has a nest or cache on the Owl's Roost Trail that runs from Bur-Mil Park to the Lake Brandt Greenway.
If you hear the Great Horned Owl call, that is a great identification aid. His call is a series of deep hoots, from 3 to 8 notes long, and sounds like -
Whose Awake, Me Too"
The Great Horned Owl Cache is a multi-part cache consisting of three levels.
To visit the Great Horned Owl, start your adventure at the Owl's Roost Trailhead on the Lake Brandt Greenway at
N36 09.370 W079 51.424 and follow the Owl's Roost Trail to the first waypoint.
After visiting with you know WHOOOO, you might want to continue your adventure on to "The Outback", which is a little further down the trail.
