Toothpick Traditional Cache
TedTerry: We have found that the sand has drifted over the telephone pole mentioned in the hint. This means that the cache has become buried, and this is not allowed in Geocaching. We therefore have elected to archive this cache. We will be setting up a micro somewhere near this nice site. Ted & Terry

Easy, open sky, beach location
This cache is located in the Salisbury Beach State Reservation, in Salisbury, MA.There is an entrance fee, during the summer months only. The name of this cache is in recognition of the long-standing aid to navigation known as “Ben Butler’s Toothpick”. It is a tall, slender, pyramid, similar to a church steeple, except that it is painted red. As one travels upriver, heading for Newburyport, it marks the northern boundary of the channel to Newburyport. For a mile and a half total walk along the river, at half-tide or less, park at 42 49.354, 70 48.827.For a shorter walk of .2 mile total, park at 42 49.352 , 70 49.560. This latter spot is meant for cars with boat trailers, but you probably won’t have any trouble off-season.The cache is a clear, Rubbermaid container 2 x 4 x 6.
10/25/04: Please limit the size of the treasures so they'll fit in the cache. It's getting crowded!
