This log-only micro cache is hidden in a small regional preserve that was once part
of a 3000-acre ranch owned by Thomas B. Bishop. In 1895, Bishop, a San
Francisco attorney, acquired the acreage from Norris land after his law firm
represented Margaret Norris in a divorce case. The ranch raised cattle, sheep,
grain, walnuts and a variety of fruit crops. At one time, the Bartlett pear
orchard was known as the largest single orchard of Bartlett pears in the world,
leading to San Ramon’s designation as the “pear capital of the world.”
Although the hike to the cache is less
than a ¼ mile, it is steep with an elevation gain of nearly 400’. There is
no need to bushwhack. If you follow the appropriate trail, it will take you
directly to the cache, which is only 40' off-trail. After you find the cache,
please make sure you carefully place it in its original position. Since this is
a small micro cache, please be sure to bring your own pen.
Good luck and remember…
Have fun, be safe and tread lightly!
