A 1.2-mile family trail walk or ride. Trail changes from paved, to cinder, to wood chip, to grassy path- then off the beaten path for the quick find.
Looking for an ammo box in a grassy prairie having spotty brush and tree cover. Parking is south of I-80 exit #127 on Empress Rd. (northbound is Houbolt Rd.). Take asphalt path to trailhead and get on packed cinder trail. After walking awhile, take a rest on the bench to get your bearings, then switch to the wooded trail. Shortly, you'll emerge on a green, groomed, short-grass trail. Along the entire way, don't forget to look for muskrat, turtles, ducks, woodpeckers, and deer. (Watch out for the geese!) Look out for watchful eyes further down the grassy path, which ends at frisbee golf course. (The hard way to this cache is to stay on the cinder trail and go bushwhacking later on.) Cache has log book, foreign currency, keychains, pens/pencils, (and trading cards for kids). FTF gets dibs on my gyroscope. Please send the gyro to other ammo box caches and report its travels to me via geocaching.com. Hope you find, and enjoy, my first cache.
