KU#3 Fenrisulven Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Geocaches which have not been maintained or the owner has not responded will not be taken out of the archive

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

Located near Ulvestuen in Skuidalen.

The cache is dedicated to Norwegian postage stamps no. 1535 and 1536, issued March 26th 2004, with the theme Norse Mythology. The wolf was a much feared and hated animal in Norse times. In Norse mythology the wolf represents the monster Fenrisulven.

Wolves have been hunted in Skuidalen for hundreds of years. Ulvestuen is a restored wolf trap, a method which has been used to trap wolves untill the early 1800s.

The cache is a two litre plastic ice cream tub covered in a plastic bag. It contains items that may (or may not) have been around in Norse times. It contains an extra bonus for FTF: a first day cover of this stamp issue, signed by the artist.

The cache also contains a camera. Please photograph yourself, or any other creature that may have been trapped in the pit, and leave the camera in the box.
