This is an offset cache. The coordinates given here will take you to a place on a well used bike and hike trail where you will find the information you need to calculate the coordinates of the cache. The terrain is easily traversed by paved roads and well used trails. The cache contains a number of articles that kids might enjoy.
The first thing you need to do is find a friendly fellow by the name of Roy standing on the bridge (not under it)and ask him when he started hanging out on the trail - thats right ASK ROY. Hint: if he doesn’t answer look under his right arm for a small plaque that has the year he was dedicated to the settlers of the valley. This number is Roy’s year which we will call RY. Now multiply 200 by 5 and add 99. Subtract this number from RY. Add the result to the northing of this location (5369899N) to get the cache northing. Now multiply 500 by 3 and add 52. Subtract this number from RY. Add the result to the easting of this location (473404E) to get the cache easting. As you have probably figured out, the cache is located NE of this location. It is readily accessible via a network of well used trails and paved roads so no bushwacking is required. It takes about 25 to 30 minutes to walk to the cache from where Roy is located. It is a relatively easy hike, flat for the most part except the last 100 metres or so. The cache is located within a park so please minimize any disturbance to the flora and fauna around you. You can see the hiding place from a small trail so if you're not standing on a trail you're not in the right location.Items placed in the cache are mostly dollar store items of interest to kids. Sorry – no $100 bills this time.List of the original contents of the cache- package of spring links- pocket steeplechase game- silly putty- bug magnifying glass- tire gauge- little notebook- magic dice tunnel- log book with pencil and pen to record your findPlease make sure you close the lid tightly and put some bark and branches on top of the cache box to hide it from view. Thanks and have fun finding the cache.
