Geocache Description:

This is Carrizo Gorge. Are you crazy enough?

This is Carrizo Gorge. Here there was a railroad built to traverse the rugged( and i do mean Rugged)Canyon. This is where I parked my truck to get to the hiking park of Carrizo gorge on my way to Goat Canyon Trestle and the cache hidden there. You will most definitley need AT LEAST high clearance 2wd, preferably 4wd. There is a sign now posted about 1/4 of a mile from the cache stating closed area, so you can actually park and then walk 1/4 mile to this cache. the difficulty rating is due to the terrain if you drive there, if you walk its still difficult and the climb to the cache is not super hard, but about 20 feet up. There is no bushwaking needed at all. This Cache is not recommended for the summer as it is blazing hot, and if you do attempt it during summer, make sure you have plenty of water, someone knows where your going and give them the coords of the cache in case someone needs to rescue you. Cell phone recenption....what reception? area is also a route used by immigrants from south of the border, and there are lots of jumping cactus and barrel cactus.
if you intend on going to the famous Goat Canyon Trestle, form this point it is a measly 2.6 miles, in a straight line. HOWEVER, do not be fooled, the route to the trestle from here if you follow the gorge floor, is a 5.5-6 mile hike thru the gorge and up goat canyon and up the side to the trestle itself. then from there you can actually walk the tracks back part way and then down the canyon wall of carrizo gorge. this hike is definitly much more than a 5. and again bring at least 3-4 liters of water, per person. This is beautiful country, everyone should at least see once, and if you get a chance, watch the impossible railroad, to get an idea of the railway that was put here....it is truly a feat of determination.

Cache contains a small personal radio, some aliens, a skull, a living dead doll, mini lanterns that work, a tire repair kit, and some other thigns I can't remember.
