How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

What’s that strange object behind the iron fence? What’s it doing in such an unexpected location? And does Jerry Lee Lewis have anything to do with this?

The above coordinates will lead you to the object in question. Read the nearby plaque to solve the riddle. If curiosity prompts you to investigate further, you’ll find the object’s counterparts inside the adjacent Texas Energy Museum. Hours: Tue – Sat 9am-5pm; Sun 1-5pm; closed Mondays and holidays. Admission: $2.00; children and seniors $1.00. If you run into Executive Director Ryan Smith or Museum Volunteer Carl Rush, share a couple of geocaching stories with them. Please note, however, that it is not necessary to enter the museum or pay the admission fee to log the cache.

To claim your find, email me with the following information immediately after submitting your smiley face. Any log lacking a timely confirmation email will be deleted.

1. What object is located inside the iron fence?

2. How deep underground does the object extend?

3. What is the correct name for the rotating drum?
