It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache so for the time being it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. We are no longer leaving caches stay disabled for extended periods of time.

Groundspeak and the geocaching community appreciate your contributions to geocaching and I hope to see this cache back in operation soon. If you can get it back up and running in the next week or so contact me to get it relisted. Otherwise plan to move it slightly and set up a new cache page.

Geocache Description:

A small orienteering course in Binder Park in Jefferson City that you can either use with a compass or a GPS unit. The waypoints (WP) were checked with a survey-grade Trembel GPS and should have 1 meter accuracy, so this will be a chance to check your unit's accuracy.

Here's a chance to practice up your land navigation skills with either a compass or a GPS unit. The course is set up with 8 stops (lettered A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) in a mowed, fairly level area in Binder Park. The coordinates listed above bring you to the front porch of the old Binder Lake Tackle Shop (also known as WP A). The course is in the field just to the north of Shop. Park in the nice paved parking lot, turn on your GPS or grab your compass and head for the front porch.

At the front porch (or WP A), you will see a small, square, red and white metal plaque with a number written on it. You will need to keep track of those numbers, as they will be used as the clue for the final cache, located nearby. You will see a list below of each WP. Included is the latitude and longitude of that WP as well as the compass heading and distance you would take to get to the next way point.

Just a little note....you can work your way through the course with a compass, but you will need a GPS to find the cache. After all, who ever heard about finding a cache with only a compass?
