How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

aka April Fools at Point Defiance. I have remade the way the cache works, since the waypoint container has disappeared three times; once when a park vehicle ran over it, once when they cut down the tree it was hiding in, and now....

This is my husband's birthday cache; his birthday is April 1st so he has endured 43 years of my "fun" surprises. He grew up next to the Point, and this is to reward him for dragging me kicking and screaming into Geocaching, to which I admit I am addicted. While you are here, enjoy this awesome park- one of the 20 largest city parks in the country.

Park at N47.18.213 W122.30.961 and head for the first waypoint above.

While you are here, enjoy this awesome park- one of the 20 largest city parks in the country. Explore Fort Nisqually, Camp Six Logging museum and train, the zoo and aquarium, and of course, the spectacular views. But since it is so popular, there are muggles everywhere, so please wait till they’re out of sight before you retrieve or hide!

You have one location to find prior to the cache itself, which is at N47*18.abc and W122*ef.ddc.

At the above coordinates, take note of the dates; you will need them later. Then walk about 200 feet toward the park entrance, and find a large sign by some rhododendrons. You will find the coordinates for the final from numbers at one of the places you visited.

A= month the planting happened, minus one
B= 3rd digit of the year Cushman was born
C= 2nd digit of the year a centennial will be celebrated.
D= 2nd digit of day plus last digit of the year of the rhodies’ planting
EF= the ?? anniversary of Rotary minus 20

Coordinates above apply to both April Folly One and Two.
Be careful at the waypoint- you will have information needed for April Folly One AND Two. This cache is very easy- but we make up for it with Folly two!

Final container is a Bison tube, and (a helpful hint when replacing the logbook) after re-rolling it back up, stick it in the LID first before screwing it back together - Trust me..
