Nana Bear: This space can be used by someine else. Too many muggles, too many replacements. But it was a fun cache while it lasted.

A challenging way to enjoy this park on foot! I have remade the way the cache works, since the first waypoint container has disappeared three times; once when a park vehicle ran over it, once when they cut down the tree it was hiding in, and now....this cache has been remade as of 5/26/06. All old waypoints were muggled, so now it's up to you to find the coordinates.
Park at N47.18.213 W122.30.961 and head for the first waypoint above. You have one number to find at this spot; if you miss this one, you will have to hotfoot it back!
Along the way, check the plaques that will give you some of the history that created this great park. Or Google before you come and find out when the Job Carr post office was moved here, and moved out, and why. And when Fort Nisqually was built here, and why. And when and why was this land set aside to be a military installation. Just for fun. Not for the cache!
While you are here, enjoy this awesome park- one of the 20 largest city parks in the country. Explore Fort Nisqually, Camp Six Logging museum and train, the zoo and aquarium, and of course, the spectacular views. But since it is so popular, there are muggles everywhere, so please wait till they’re out of sight before you retrieve or hide!
You will be on foot for a little less than a mile. Head for the Japanese Gardens at approximately 47.18.351N 122.31.044W. Go DOWN the steps to the lower garden where you will find all the numbers you need.
While you are there you will need to be observant and gather numbers for the final.
A = The fourth digit of the year the Japanese Gardens were established minus the first digit.
B = the number of stepping stones in the small pond, plus three
C = the size of the shell from the USS Maine, minus one
D = the number of ponds in the lower gardens (the bridge separates two of them)
E = first digit minus the third digit of the year the Pagoda was built
F = last digit of the year of Francis Cushman’s death
Now walk across the footbridge and follow the path along the top of the cliff. Enjoy the views as you get closer to the cache.
Final is at
N47*18.abc
W122*31.def
Final cache container is a plastic bottle.
Please be careful of muggles and re-hide carefully.
Pappa Bear's tenth birthday party was at the final cache, which was the site of a building, moved there in 1900 from Old Town, that had been the First Post Office in Tacoma, Postmaster Job Carr, who also became the city's first mayor. The final cache is close to the cement foundation for that building, now housing two picnic tables!
