Geocache Description:

Do not try to pick the container up. Rated as a 2 for terrain only because there is an incline, some overgrowth that makes it a little more challenging for little ones. Hidden at ground level, this are gets a lot of snow depth in the winter and so will be much tougher to find then. Parking is closest at N51º07.504', W114º05.917'. You will see that this is near another "gate".

Originally a regular-sized Rubbermaid container, this cache was revamped for it's fifth anniversary as a custom ammo can. After being stolen in the summer of 2010, it was re-launched in a new, custom ammo can kindly created and supplied by nicolo and won by myself at the CCARW10 event. This is my first ever hidden cache so I named it "nav1gate" and put items relating to the number one in it. There is no need to follow the theme, but if you do, I'll give you a hug or handshake next time I meet you!

The original items were:
#1 Brass House Number
#1 Vinyl Sticker
#1 Birthday CandleSheet of gold stars for the number 1 kid
Pack of playing cards containing four Aces
$1 Loonie
First to Find finders card

At the time of re-energizing this cache in 2009 I added some more number 1 items and some other trade items that do not follow the theme.

Again, in April 2015, the container was taken (but fortunately the LogBook was left behind in a baggie), so a new ammo can was placed with an improved LogBook and brand new trade items! The theme of #1 was dropped as it has not been very well followed through the years.

The cache is hidden in some bush near some trails and you'll be slightly hidden once in the bush. Please respect the work of the conservationists and approach the final hiding spot from the south. I made this a relatively easy cache so that those with young children do not have to embark on a long hike or search. Please do not cover the container when you re-hide it, it is supposed to be exposed! I hope you have fun with this one. It is intended as the first in a series of seven caches. (Will this series ever be finished?! The seventh is long overdue!)

The container was again replaced sometime between 2015 and 2021.

In August 2021 the container was revamped with a fresh paint job and what I call the Tigger-tail spring - a dog leash ground screw to help anchor it as it keeps migrating. This cache is supposed to be exposed and easy to find. Many finders take it upon themselves to move the container where they think it should be. When I picked this up for repainting it was about 50 feet from GZ! During this upgrade a new LogBook was made as the old one had been taken by persons unknown, probably in April 2021.
