This is a fabulous area and I have no idea why no one has placed
a cache here before. This multi-cache covers the whole of
Knaresborough waterside and the castle area, before going for a
riverside walk to find the cache box.
The co-ordinates above point to a car park which is accessible
from the B6163 (next to Mother Shiptons Inn Public House –
Opposite end from the normal entrance to Mother Shiptons. The
co-ordinates are also the clue to ‘B’
In busy times alternative (FREE) parking can be found on the
B6163 outside Calcut & Forest Moor Village Hall (N54.00.040 W
001 28.100) which is only a short walk down the hill, to the
caching area.
The whole area which has boating on the river, the castle
(free), and unusual house built into the rock wall of the valley,
Mother Shipton’s petrifying well and a short walk into the
town centre is a must for all visitors for this area. To do the
cache only and go home would be a shame. I would recommend that you
stay and visit this area, and allow at least ½ day for all the
attractions.
Although you can see that the locations below are all within a
small area, please allow a good hour and half to complete (just
going from A to B). The total distance on the most direct route is
just under 2 miles but there are some steep steps.
I have not given the co-ordinates A to G in any order, that I am
leaving for you to sort out when you get there. If you fancy a
longer walk backwards and forwards, you can always do them
alphabetically.
