Geocache Description:

Hello and welcome to our families first cache. It should be an easy find and a good spot to stop for a few minutes to take a break on your trip to or from Seattle or Spokane. In this area you can find the Yakima River which offers lots of opportunities for Rest and Relaxation, a nine hole golf course, and some excellent fishing. There is also the John Wayne Pioneer trail which travels from North Bend to Idaho. It is an old Rail Road grade an can be used for hikers, bikers, and horses.

This cache is located near the Yakima river a few miles before Cle Elum. From the parking spot it is about .12 of a mile to the cache on a seldom used trail between two elevated Rail lines. One of the lines is the John Wayne Pioneer trail and is only used by hikers and horses. The other is occasionally used, but is not an issue for this cache. You will be looking for a white and clear Tupperware container inside a black plastic bag. You will want to park near the river, down a dead end road, before you reach the two railroad bridges. N 47-11.172 W 121-02.637 if you want some numbers for parking. Two things we noticed when placing this cache. One, was that the trees would only let us get a 20 foot reading, but after several attempts we feel a good reading was had. Two, was that the railroad bridges messed with the direction initially to find the cache. We would suggest you start from between the bridges and take the path less travelled. We used the ratings generator for the ratings. It is probably much easier than the ratings suggest and is only designed as a quick stop on your drive over the mountains. The trail may limit wheelchair use. Good luck and have a nice day!Starting contents:Farmyard stickers, silly putty, 3 kalidascopes, fortune teller fish, 4 rings, 3 piece tool kit, green motorcycle, small blue ball, marble, 2 plastic rockets, 2 right angle viewers, plastic red cross, skull/crossbones pencil, and a finger trap. Yes the kids had a HUGE say in the contents!
