Geocache Description:

Cache is at broken dam in a remote area of White Clay Creek about 50 feet off the Wendel Cassel Trail (ex Boundary Line trail) .

I have had problems with the co-ordinates on different visits being different by as much as 80 feet, but you know the dam must be on the stream.

Park at the Delaware Park Office on Thompkins Station Road and Chambers Rock Road. Walk north on Thonpkins Station Road about 0.6 mile, then take Wendel Cassel/Cart Road Trail that goes off to the left and crosses a small stream on a footbridge that was built using old bridge supports. As you start up the hill watch for the trail junction where the Wendel Cassel trail veers off to the right-TAKE IT You do not want to go straight on the Cart Road trail.

About 0.4 miles up the trail, you cross the stream on a bridge, telling you that you are getting close. The cache is less than 50 feet off the trail--follow sound of falling water! I discovered the dam while helping to build this trail with the Friends of White Clay Creek.

The new “Mystery Structure #2” cache is only 0.65 miles due west from this cache. However, its all bushwhack through some difficult terrain. I’ve done it (in early spring), but don’t recommend it unless you want a real challenge. Its longer but much easier to return to Thompkins Station Road 1/4 mile from the park office and start from there. Or if you want to see what the bushwhack will be like, start out due west—after 0.1 miles you hit old Cart Road Trial and can return that way.
