Geocache Description:

Located in New Suffolk, NY at the site of the first submarine base in the United States.

This is a small Rubbermaid container with a logbook, pencil, a WG$ and a few small trade items. The cache is near a monument declaring this site to be the first US Submarine base. The first sub commissioned in the U.S. Navy was the U.S.S. Holland in 1900 launched from this location. The base and all the subs are long gone, but there's a cache there. : ) The sign says parking for Southold residents, but I've eaten lunch there dozens of times without a problem. Anyway, you're not parking, you're Geocaching. But if it bothers you, there are no signs outside that little gaurd railed area. Enjoy the view. One more thing, beware the muggles.
