Geocache Description:

This is a easy off and on from the I15 freeway.

The cache is in a Joshua Tree Forest next to the I15. The Joshua Tree was named this by the Mormon Travelers who came though the area. They thought the Joshua Trees were pointing the way for them to go (this never made sense to me).

John C Fremont, a 19th century explorer, called the Joshua Tree "the most repulsive tree in the vegetable kingdom." The desert animimals consider the spiky tree a handsome feature of the Mojave Desert.

The Joshua Tree Habitat occurs at the elevations between 2000 and 6000 feet throughout the Mojave Desert. The Joshua is a member of the Lily Family. The Joshua Tree tends to bloom between March and May.

The Native Indians of the area used to make a flour paste and cook the flowers and/or seeds into a flat bread.
