Imagine using an old fashioned analog watch with a minute hand and an hour hand to find this cache.
Go to Waypoint 1 (N45 16.292 W075 49.618). (Parking is nearby.) There you will find a tag (white numbers on black) on a 5 inch diameter poplar tree. Subtract 0.904 from the first number to give you the north minutes of Waypoint 2 and add 10.575 to the second number to give you the west minutes of Waypoint 2. The degree portions of the coordinates at Waypoint 2 are N45 and W075.
You could go to Waypoint 2, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Instead, imagine a watch placed at Waypoint 2 such that a line drawn from the 6 position through the center to the 12 position points to true north. Initially, the watch reads exactly 12 noon, so both hands are pointing to true north. As time passes, the hands will reach positions when they are pointing in exactly opposite directions (for example, at precisely 6 pm).
The hour hand will point precisely to the cache when the hands are pointing in exactly opposite directions for the third time since noon. The precise time since noon for the hands to arrive at this position is the amount of time necessary to travel to the cache in a straight line at a precise speed of 5 kilometers per hour.
Go find the cache! And don’t forget to have fun.
Please leave the surroundings exactly as you found them.
PLEASE do not include spoilers in your logs. Logs with spoilers will be deleted immediately. If you believe there are any problems with the cache setup, please advise me privately by e-mail so that I may fix them if necessary.
