Geocache Description:

THE STAIRMASTER

This is the first in a series of GeoGadget caches. To find the cache you will first need to acquire a gadget. Your adventure starts at the bottom of a very long set of stairs. Yes, I'm going to make you do it. Start walking and counting each step till you get to the very top of the hill at the lightpost next to the road. Each step up the stairs counts as one step. Don't lose count!

When you get to the top, catch your breath, and wander over to find the Tabor Top RM3 Benchmark. There are also two other nearby benchmarks, so you could bag a hat trick of benchmarks if you are interested.

Now for some quick calculations to find your gadget. Using the published coordinates on the benchmark page for the benchmark:

  • Add 163 to the number of steps to get the distance in feet to the gadget.
  • Subtract 147 from the number of steps to get the bearing (magnetic north) to the gadget.

When you find your gadget, it will have the actual cache coordinates written on it. Please take only one gadget. You will need to use it at the cache location. Also, be sure to save your gadget. It will be used in future gadget caches. Good luck, enjoy the hunt, and don't forget to log the benchmark!

CURRENT GEOGADGET CACHES
The usual urban micro techniques of patience and stealth may be needed. Please don't mention any specifics about the cache in your logs.
