Regular ammo box cache in a beautiful National Forest Recreation Area. Alum Cove features a spectacular natural bridge 130' long & 12' thick.
Cache is located along a 1 mile loop trail. It is located at the 1/2 mile mark, so you make take either direction around the trail, and hopefuly this will encourage you to see the entire loop. The trail leaves the picnic area & switchbacks down hill to the natural bridge. This is where the loop begins & you may go either direction. It's all downhill to start, but all uphill at the end. There are also some nice bluffs & a mysterious cave along the trail.Cache is a 50 cal. ammo box. Original contents are Pilsbury Doughboy, Paddle Ball, Sticky Ball, Tri-Bond CD-Rom, Assorted goodies, and Chevy Chevelle TB.At the time I placed this cache, day use fees were not being collected due to water problems at the recreation area. The water at the picnic pavilion is under a boil order at this time. So be sure to bring drinking water with you. If the water problem is ever fixed, day use fees may be required in the future for this area, but I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.Be safe and I hope you enjoy!
