step2626: While I had hoped to replace the container and bring this cache back to life, I find that life has been too busy. So, I'm archiving this old cache and free up the location for another cache.

Geocache Description:

This cache is based on Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events Book Seven: The Vile Village

If you enjoy finding caches that involve fun, happy themes, you would be better off throwing your GPS to the birds and finding a new hobby than seeking out the caches in this series. This cache is the seventh in A Series of Unfortunate Caches that are inspired by Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events” books. If you are unfortunate enough to have already read the series of books, you will know what we are talking about. This cache is based on The Vile Village, in which the Baudelaire children’s misadventures continue as they do some bird watching while they hunt for their missing friends and try to avoid breaking any rules.

Park at the following coordinates: N44º 40.123' W123º 13.274'

The cache is currently a camouflaged plastic container which is about 6 inches in diameter and 5 inchs tall. The coordinates will lead you to a location where you might also be able to do some bird watching. Could this be the Village of Fowl Devotees described in the book? Make sure you know all the rules when hunting for this cache, especially these:
  • Rule #1 - This area is open only during daylight hours.
  • Rule #2 - Anyone who breaks a rule is burned at the stake.
  • Rule #3 - Re-hide the cache well, this is a popular place.
  • Rule #19 - The only pens that are acceptable within the city limits are the ones made from the feathers of crows.
  • Rule #39 - It is illegal to make anything out of crow feathers.
  • Rule #67 - No citizen is allowed to build or use any mechanical devices (is a GPS a mechanical device?)
  • Rule #991 - No cheating allowed
  • Rule #2493 - Any person who is going to be burned at the stake has an opportunity to make a speech right before the fire is lit.
  • Rule #2626 - Don’t trample the vegetation, there’s already a path here.
  • Rule #4561 - Citizens are not allowed to use their mouths for recreation. (Don’t arouse the suspicions of the many muggles fishing in this area.)
  • Rule #19,833 - No villains are allowed within the city limits.
