Geocache Description:

This cache is based on Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events Book Eight: The Hostile Hospital

If you enjoy finding caches that involve fun, happy themes, you would be better off surgically removing your GPS and finding a new hobby than seeking out the caches in this series. This cache is the eighth in A Series of Unfortunate Caches that are inspired by Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events” books. If you are unfortunate enough to have already read the series of books, you will know what we are talking about. This cache is based on The Hostile Hospital, in which the Baudelaire children’s misadventures continue as a very risky operation is planned.

It shouldn’t require a risky operation to find this cache, but do watch out for muggles and re-hide it well. Park at the following coordinates: N44º 40.123' W123º 13.274' and follow Purple Vetch Road. You are looking for a camo covered plastic container (8"x8"x2.5"). Be sure to also hunt for the nearby Vile Village cache.

The cache coordinates will lead you to the site of a former “hostile” hospital where POW’s were once held and lots of people were treated for poison oak. The hospital at this site was comprised of many buildings, many of which were later moved to other locations, but some remain to be seen here. If you would like to learn more about this place, we would recommend that you read the following books: Camp Adair by John H. Baker and Camp Adair World War II by Polk County Museum Assoc. We found both of these books at the Corvallis Public Library.
