Geocache Description:

This cache is located in a brand new micro-park off the beaten track in Dunwoody. This is wallclimber's first "regular" cache, and we think you'll find the hunt enjoyable.

The park surrounds a historical springhouse that dates back to the late 1800's, when the only thing happening in Dunwoody was a lot of farming. Most likely, this springhouse, which was over the hill from some farms, was used by the farmers as their water source. If you want to see one of the remaining farmhouses in Dunwoody, hit the "The Box House" cache. The farms in the area of this cache became subdivisions long ago. To this day, the spring still flows and forms the headwaters of a small stream that eventually feeds Nancy Creek. (6-25-05) This cache has turned out to be quite a TB depot. Stop by and trade! Earlier this year, Boy Scouts from Troop 434 (Dunwoody, GA) began renovating the springhouse and surrounding land as a community park. The effort was led by Life Scouts Michael Buckley and Mark Ducote as their Eagle Scout project. The reason the roof of the springhouse is missing is that the old one was rotting out and required demolition. The Scouts were going to rebuild it to exact detail, but unfortunately, the DeKalb County Parks and Recreation suits stopped that due to liability concerns (same problem at Murphey Candler Park for the little leaguers.) My wife and jmtbuzz played in the springhouse more than 30 years ago when they were growing up in the neighborhood. Both of our families hope you enjoy hunting this traditional cache. Please place it where you found it, watch for geomuggles, and if you CITO, you will avoid suspicion.
