Update 8/18/20 - This area is not a particularly "safe" place for a cache because of the busy trail and the sloping landscape, so it goes missing too often. I have replaced the cache with a small coffee container painted black. Please see the new hint.
Marquam Nature Park winds through the West Hills, surprising city dwellers with a wonderfully quiet retreat close to the downtown core. The park connects the Oregon Zoo/World Forestry Center/Vietnam Veterans Memorial complex to the north through Council Crest; to the south it reaches Willamette Park through Terwilliger Parkway and George Himes Park. Most of this trail section passes through Douglas fir forest, but spectacular views are part of the attraction from the top of Council Crest. A map showing internal loop trails and history of the area are on display at the Interpretive Center off Sam Jackson Road near Duniway Park.Click this link for a map of the trails in this area.
