JuergenB: It was an honor to place the second geocache of the island of El Hierro in 2004. Now eager cachers claim to have to say that laws seem to be restricting the use of public space to paths and streets although I could not find any specific prohibition in the gov's documentation published on http://www.gobiernodecanarias.org/cptss/politica-territorial/temas/informacion-territorial/enp/hierro/ -> "H-4 Frontera". Geocache Description:

UPDATE: Thank you VERY much, Hagakure08, for bringing in a new "box" on 31st October 2018!!!

Due to its name (mixed Spanish and English) it is not far from a building symbolizing its name, but hidden in/on a typical, rough underground of this area.

Although as being a German living on Tenerife since 1997, I decided to hide my first stash on Easter Sunday 2004 on the island of El Hierro, dedicated to the islands former importance to the worlds geography: For a very long time, El Hierro was seen as the westernmost landmark of the known world. Therefore the Zero Meridian was defined going through the Lighthouse of Orchilla. In dedication to this historic landmark I named and hid my first geocache-stash (on) the "Meridiano Zero" ( Un nota a todos que hablan español: ¡Lo sé que “cero” no se escribe con “z”, fue mi intención nombrar mi stash con “z”! ).Be careful: The way to the monument near the stash can not be used by street-cars. Use a 4x4, an adequate (motor-)bike or take an easy walk! From there be sure you wear appropriate, rugged footwear and (leather-) gloves: Take care of the very sharp-edged stones and holes near the stash. Keep in mind that there is no cellphone-coverage out there in case of an accident. There are innumerable footpaths from fishermen throughout the area, try to use them. THERE IS NO MORE BOX! Anyway, enjoy (and save) the unique landscape!
